Only 5 weeks ago these 3 brothers had no hope, were not attending school, and were lucky if they received one meal each day. Denis, Innocent and Ronald (ages 13, 8 and 7 years) desperately needed help. Their father is in prison, their mother got a new husband and didn’t want them anymore, sending them away to stay with their grandparents. Their grandparents couldn’t feed them or send to them school. The children were regularly beaten.

After a recent beating the kids ran to the police for help. The local police intervened and brought the 3 brothers to IGF. In less than 4 weeks, they are able to smile again as their basic needs are met. The brothers are staying together in the IGF resident children’s dormitory, attending school, eating 3 meals a day, and receiving the love and care that they deserve.

“I cant even remember the last time I went to school, it was a few years ago. My brothers have never been”, said 13 year old Denis. The youngest brother Ronald had a swollen belly from under-nutrition. ‘There isn’t enough food at home to eat, sometimes we would take it from the neighbours, but our grandparents would beat us for doing that, so we stayed hungry most days’, Denis told us.
The brothers are fitting in well and adjusting to life at IGF.

IGF will continue working with local authorities to restore family relations and ensure the rights of these children are observed by their community.

The challenges for these brothers aren’t over yet, but you can help IGF support and care for them by donating today.
