Forty-two eager children were the first to be enrolled into IGF’s newest nursery section adjoined to IGF’s Palabek primary school. The newest pre-primary section was opened in February, and means that all four of IGF’s schools now have a nursery section attached. Providing the foundations of education through the pre-primary programs is an important aim of IGF, and also aligns with the Ugandan Government’s objective of increasing the rates of pre-primary education of children throughout Uganda.

The nursery section at Palabek has started with K1 class, and will expand to K1-K3 in the coming years.

“I have a class of 42 children who come from the nearby villages. It’s quite challenging but I am doing my best to make sure each child understands the fundamentals of school. Luckily enough, they do not have to go home to eat because the school provides for them two meals every day.” Agnes – Palabek Nursery Teacher.

We are excited about the opening of the newest nursery school and the beginning of the educational journey for these young children. Whilst the teaching resources are limited, and the children do not yet have uniforms, we pray for expansion and provision of these items over time. After hearing about the new nursery school and seeing that there were no chairs for the young children to sit on, a Ugandan woman living in Kampala donated 42 chairs to the school. Praise God!
These pioneering pupils will graduate at the end of 2021, and continue into primary school!
