IGF’s Memorial Charity Walk 2018 was launched on 29th March by the President of Republic of Uganda. HE Yoweri Kaguta Museveni visited Kitgum and placed a foundation stone for a Community Library and Training Centre to be constructed in Kitgum.

Each year, IGF holds a Charity Walk and Memorial Service in Kitgum to remember and celebrate the life and work of Mama Irene. This year’s charity walk and memorial service will take place on 21st July 2018.

The theme and focus of the charity walk for 2018 is to raise funds for the construction of a Community Library and Training Centre, to benefit the entire community in Kitgum District. Mama Irene was a strong advocate for improving education, and this community library will help support education throughout the entire district.

We were honoured to have the President of Uganda place the foundation stone and commit to supporting the project with approximately $25,000 AUD. More details will become available as we lead up to the major event in Kitgum on 21st July 2018.
